I think it comes as no surprise that I was a teacher’s pet in school. Not by choice—in fact, I had the great misfortune of being friends with teachers’ daughters multiple times, which meant that when their mothers praised me, it turned into a competition. But I’ve always loved to learn, to be challenged, to raise my hand and say something that earns me praise.
