Happy Wednesday! What games are you playing lately? I started the Spider-Man DLC, The Heist. Black Cat’s flirtatious banter and Peter Parker’s awkward reactions are fun to watch. I’ve also been playing Mass Effect 2 for the first time. It’s interesting to see how Shepard’s Paragon/Renegade morality choices affect her teammates. Review: Life is Strange 2 – Episode One Tackles Tough Subjects

Life is Strange is one of my favorite games in recent memory. I’ve played better games, I’ve played more interesting games, I’ve played games I connect with more, and yet my heart still skips a beat when I think of Max, so much like me, and Chloe, so much not. It was filled with shortcomings, with scenes that downright offended me, and yet it had so much heart—DONTNOD has an earnestness I admire, even when the game sometimes had me rolling my eyes. Happy Wednesday! This week, I have the most important news of all: I played a video game, folks. Not only did I play a video game—I beat one. I have finally finished Shadow of the Colossus, and boy howdy, was that ever a video game, eh? The last colossus drew some never-before-heard curses out of my mouth. It’s an excellent game, but I could write an entire essay on how awful that last colossus felt to fight and how yes, I do get the point, but as we discussed in English class, mimesis isn’t actually the best method to get a point across. Or I could just… play another video game!
