The Women Stars of E3 2018

E3’s over and the gaming community is slowly falling back into the normal swing of things, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still lessons to be learned from this year’s show. Feminist Frequency recently published their yearly look at the number of women-centric video games showcased at E3, and while the numbers are still frustratingly low (8 percent of games vs. 24 percent featuring men), the games we did get show plenty of promise. I want to take a look at the specific games which starred female protagonists and/or featured women predominantly in their trailers, broken down by press conference. E3 has a long way to go toward equality, but we still have some games to look forward to in the next couple of years. (more…)

E3 2018 unveiled a flood of upcoming games for those of us who were lucky enough to be there or watching the proceedings on Twitch and YouTube. Personally, I think the week’s biggest highlights were Devolver’s hilariously entertaining conference full of blood, sarcasm, and Mahria Zook’s incredible acting; the beautiful same-sex kiss shown in the The Last of Us Part II trailer; and the three trailers for Kingdom Hearts IIIdue out January 29th, 2019that Square Enix generously graced us with. Get Your Game On: Oh, It’s E3 Again

Welcome back to Wednesdays with me, your humble editor in chief! I have unsurprisingly fallen back into Overwatch thanks to the availability of every loot box. I’m a sucker for skins, what can I say!
