Hello! Maddi here to bring you the good, the bad, and the somewhere in between video game news from the last week. Lately, I’ve been playing (and enjoying) the cozy and whimsical One Day at a Thyme, a solo journaling game by Jei D. Marcade. If you’ve been playing anything good recently, tell us about it on Twitter, or, if you’re a member of our Patreon at the Sega Genesis tier or higher, in our Discord! Without further ado, let’s get to the gaming news. (more…)

Hello and welcome to Get Your Game On! Maddi here, hoping the new year is treating you kindly so far. While I generally feel that January 1 is a day like any other, I’ve been feeling particularly refreshed and ready to tackle new games and projects in 2022. We’re in a bit of a video game release lull, so I’ve been playing Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator and the 2018 Shadow of the Colossus lately in an attempt to tame my backlog of games. Have you been playing anything good? Let us know on Twitter, or, if you’re a member of our Patreon at the Sega Genesis tier or higher, drop a recommendation in our Discord! Now, here’s all the news you need to know from the last week. Please note that the third section, “Users Review Bombing Tabletop Simulator After Global Chat Controversy,” explicitly discusses transphobia, if you prefer not to read about this type of content. Take care of yourselves! (more…)

Howdy and welcome to Get Your Game On! My name is Maddi, and since last we met I have started playing the life-changing Yakuza 0. My early-game thoughts are that I would do anything for Kazuma Kiryu and his kind, gentle eyes. As always, I’m sitting on a significant pile of unplayed games, but I’m looking forward to adding to it as the games announced at E3 start coming out. (I’m particularly excited for Sable and that Japanese Breakfast score!)
E3 was still stealing most of the game news headlines last week, but here’s everything else you might have missed! (more…)

Hello and welcome to Wednesday! It’s been a while since I handled the news roundup, so to tell you what I’ve been playing would take a long time. Lately, it’s all about The Sims—I’m in one of those Sims throes where all I want to do is play, and the temptation of the Cottage Living expansion is seriously tempting me to stick with it long after I would normally burn out. I can grow pumpkins! Did you see that rainbow cow in the trailer? Did you hear Japanese Breakfast in Simlish? EA may be one of the games industry’s most mustache-twirling villains and the cottagecore fad may have diminished somewhat but I feel sufficiently pandered to and will almost certainly be purchasing this expansion.
Anyway, let’s get on to the news! (more…)

Hello and welcome to GYGO! I’m Kael, your local can’t-play-a-modern-game-to-save-their-lifer, and I’ve spent this past week running through Chrono Trigger, which is just as good as I remember it. The way it makes use of the SNES’s limited resources absolutely blows me away sometimes. And luckily, being an old-style JRPG, I had plenty of time to look for this week’s gaming news while I waited for the turn-based combat to play out.
Enjoy! (more…)
