Did you ever have a character concept you loved, one that looked great on paper even, yet… nothing ever worked out? That’s Intari Ariabis, my tiefling warlock. When my friend (and Sidequest Editor in Chief) Missy decided a couple of years ago that she would start running a Dungeons & Dragons game for us, and that the game was going to be full of feywild bullshit, the concept for Intari snapped together, crystal clear in my head.

Dungeons & Dragons was not my first tabletop RPG. That honor belongs to the aptly named Supernatural Role Playing Game which is, you guessed it, an RPG based on the hit CW show Supernatural. But I’ve played way more D&D than any other TTRPG despite coming to it later, and despite knowing that there are games out there that do some of D&D‘s core features better. (more…)

Many things come appropriately tagged with a foreboding “Do not eat!” label, but dice, unfortunately, do not. As the tabletop gaming industry continues to thrive with growing interest, more and more independent die makers are taking the opportunity to also grow their businesses, expand their inventories, and strut their stuff to show off their beautiful—and scrumptious-looking—creations for the world to see and even potentially hoard and own. Many of these dice are so aesthetically pleasing to look at that they also tread the line of being a little too delicious-looking for comfort. (more…)
