Anders is one of the most maligned characters in the beloved Dragon Age franchise—moreso than some of the cast’s other colorful characters, like the crass, deadbeat Oghren or Blackwall, who commits the cardinal sins of being both a liar and a bore. Unlike those two, Anders was intended to be a polarizing character, as his character arc, beginning in the Origins DLC Awakening and spanning the entirety of Dragon Age II, culminates in the game’s final showdown, and it’s all his fault.
