More Than Just Fishing: A Roundtable About Sidequests

More Than Just Fishing: A Roundtable About Sidequests

I’ve written pretty thoroughly about how I am a particular type of gamer. I prefer games that are story and relationship focused, and that don’t require a lot of level grinding or random quests. This includes my tabletop play style—apologies to my DM/wife who is sitting on a bunch of Kingmaker sidequests that our party has ignored! Because of my pickiness, I don’t play a lot of games, but lately I’ve been feeling like this framework of “pickiness” is unfair. Am I a gamer aberration? What makes me different from all of you? Why the heck do y’all enjoy repetitive level grinding?! (more…)

Or, if you support our Patreon at the Sega Genesis tier or higher, tell us about it in our Discord. Now, let’s get to the news. (more…)

GYGO: 6th Edition (Or Not)

Hello and welcome to Get Your Game On! My name is Maddi and you’ll never believe what I’ve been playing lately. (If you’re following along from last month, yes, I am still talking about Dicey Dungeons. It’s very good.) You know what else is pretty good, or at least… not as terrible as it has been? The bar is low, but the answer is: this week’s gaming news. Here it is. (more…)

GYGO: Meta is Still Betting Big

Hello and welcome to Get Your Game On! Did you miss me? I, Maddi, am back again for another dose of news this week. I am still just as into Dicey Dungeons as I was last week, so not much has changed on that front. If you feel so moved as to pitch us, our editors’ inboxes are cursed with a terrible, unsettling hunger, and we would love for you to feed them. Anyway, here’s the news.  (more…)
